Whitey Wolfe was born in Salt Lake City, Utah in 1989, as an adolescent she spent a considerable amount of time in France, where she became fluent in the language. She went on to attend Southern Methodist University; she majored in International studies. Her time in France influenced her to start her first business venture. At the age of 19, she channeled her love for fashion and helping the environment, and partnered with designer Patrick Aufdenkamp to create a line of bamboo tote bags to generate money to help those affected by the BP Spill. Her bags soon caught the attention of stylist Rachel Zoe, Nicole Richie, Denise Richards and actress Shenaea Grimes, this led to the start of her organization, Help Us Protect.
When she was 22, she partnered with Hatch Labs to co-create the dating app Tinder. While working at Tinder, Whitney Wolfe was named Vice-President of marketing. She was the brains behind the name of the famous dating app. With her marketing capabilities, the popularity of the app quickly grew amongst college campuses.
