Whitney Wolfe’s Italian Wedding Celebration

Whitney Wolfe is an entrepreneur who created the dating app, Bumble. Bumble is different than other dating apps because it only allows women to make the initial contact. Bumble has accumulated a following of over 22 million users. The app began making money by allowing users to buy various in-app purchases and is expected to make well over $100 million this year alone. Whitney Wolfe takes pride in having over 70 employees who are predominantly women.

Whitney Wolfe didn’t meet her husband, Michael Herd. Instead, a mutual friend introduced, Wolfe and Herd in 2013, while they were on separate vacations in Aspen with their individual families. Wolfe found out that Herd didn’t know how to ski, and Wolfe had a hard time comprehending how this was possible. She took it upon herself to teach Herd how to ski; or so she thought. Wolfe hopped off the ski lift and helped Herd buckle his boots into his skis. She took off down the hill as fast as she could, feeling confident that Herd was way behind her; however, when she looked up he was passing her going backwards. Wolfe’s life hasn’t been the same since.

After their time in Aspen, the two spoke on the phone frequently. However, they didn’t officially start dating until Valentine’s Day of the following year. They dated for two years before they got engaged. Wolfe hired wedding planner, Cynthia Cook Smith to help with her destination wedding. Wolfe and Herd decided they wanted to get married in Italy, at a venue, the Villa Tre Ville, they had never seen.

For the wedding ceremony, Wolfe wore an Oscar de la Renta gown with a train that was four-feet-long and a cathedral veil. Herd, however, kept things simple, with an Italian made tuxedo. After the ceremony, for dinner, Wolfe changed into a satin dress. Whitney Wolfe had one more outfit change for the night, after dinner, but before the wedding cake was cut, she changed into a fringed, beaded dress that she could easily dance and party in. Guests stayed and danced until 5:00 a.m. and were served pasta and frozen Limoncello shots throughout the night.
